Obverse description Central field bears the shield of Zug, depicting a divided escutcheon with horizontal bars, set within a beaded inner circle. The mint date appears above the shield in the upper field. A Latin legend encircles the design within the beaded border, reading continuously around the periphery. The die-engraving is characteristic of late 16th- to early 17th-century Swiss cantonal hammered coinage, with the shield rendered in relief with clearly delineated divisions.
