| Reverse description | The reverse displays the large numeral '3' prominently in the upper central field, below which the Cyrillic denomination КОПЕЙКИ (Kopecks) is inscribed in a straight legend across the centre. The date 1957 appears in the lower field, flanked on either side by ascending wheat sprigs that frame the design and meet at the top, forming an open wreath. A small dot appears below the date in the exergue area. |

| Additional information |
The "15 orbits" designation refers to the fifteen Soviet republics depicted in the wheat sheaf encircling the reverse — a detail that made this 1957 type obsolete almost immediately. When Karelo-Finnish SSR was demoted from union republic status in 1956, the correct count dropped to fourteen, prompting a redesign. Coins of this type were produced only for 1957, replaced the following year by the revised fifteen-to-fourteen sheaf variant under Y#122.
