Beneath her feet rests the personal coat of arms of Archbishop Paris von Lodron, surmounted by ecclesiastical insignia. The reverse legend, rendered in Latin, invokes Marian protection with the Marian antiphon incipit Sub Tuum Praesidium, distributed around the inner wreathed circle, with a rope-twist border at the periphery. The composition reflects the devout Counter-Reformation Marian iconography characteristic of Salzburg coinage under Paris von Lodron. |
