Obverse description Central field features the crowned royal cypher 'C' of Landgrave Charles I of Hesse-Cassel, rendered in an ornate interlaced monogram style beneath an elaborate princely crown. The monogram is flanked on either side by outward-curving palm branches, their fronds extending toward the coin's beaded border. The overall design is unlettered, with the crowned cypher serving as the sole heraldic device within the field.

Reverse description The numeral '3', denoting the denomination of three Hellers, is boldly rendered in large script at the center of the field, flanked by small six-pointed star ornaments on either side.
