| Obverse description | Central field features the crowned royal cypher 'C' of Landgrave Charles I of Hesse-Cassel, rendered in an ornate interlaced monogram style beneath an elaborate princely crown. The monogram is flanked on either side by outward-curving palm branches, their fronds extending toward the coin's beaded border. The overall design is unlettered, with the crowned cypher serving as the sole heraldic device within the field. |
