On the eagle's breast is an orb (Reichsapfel) surmounted by a cross, symbolising imperial authority. Elaborate scrollwork and foliate ornaments fill the lower field. The surrounding circular Latin legend, RVDOLPH. II. IMP. AVG. PF. DECRETO., references Emperor Rudolf II and acknowledges the imperial decree authorising this coinage, enclosed within a beaded border. |
