Reverse description The reverse bears a large, finely engraved double-headed imperial eagle displayed, with spread wings, each head crowned, and a further imperial crown above uniting both heads. On the eagle's breast is an orb (Reichsapfel) surmounted by a cross, symbolising imperial authority. Elaborate scrollwork and foliate ornaments fill the lower field. The surrounding circular Latin legend, RVDOLPH. II. IMP. AVG. PF. DECRETO., references Emperor Rudolf II and acknowledges the imperial decree authorising this coinage, enclosed within a beaded border.
