| Obverse description | Central shield bearing the arms of Utrecht — a rampant lion to sinister holding a sword — surmounted by a royal crown with foliate ornaments. The denomination numeral '3' appears to the left of the shield and the abbreviation 'Gl.' to the right. The circular Latin legend reads 'MO: ARG: ORD: FŒD: BELG: TRAI' distributed around the periphery, identifying this as the silver coinage of the federated province of Utrecht. The design is executed in bold relief with a distinctly provincial baroque style characteristic of Dutch Republic provincial coinage. |
