Obverse description Draped bust of Duke Wilhelm Kettler facing right, wearing a ruffled collar and ducal garments, with a crown at the base of the bust truncation. The portrait is rendered in a late Renaissance style characteristic of Baltic coinage of the period. A partial legend in Latin is distributed around the periphery of the field, reading MONE · ARG · CVR ·, abbreviated from Moneta Argentea Curlandiae. The bust fills the central field without an accompanying armorial shield, as indicated by the variety designation.
Obverse script Latin
Obverse lettering MONE · ARG · CVR ·
