| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central device consists of the Imperial Austrian double-headed eagle displayed, each head surmounted by a crown, with a crowned shield bearing the Habsburg arms at the centre of the breast. Below the eagle, two crossed military standards with furled drapery are arranged in saltire, symbolising the coin's military issue. The surrounding field is plain, with a finely reeded border rim. The circular Latin legend reads MONET · AER · EXERCIT · CAES · REG · (Copper coin for the Imperial and Royal Army), separated by pellets, running along the full circumference. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | Plain field bearing the denomination inscription in three stacked lines of bold Roman serif lettering: III / GROSSI / POL, followed by the date 1794 on a fourth line. Below the date, a decorative sprig composed of two olive or laurel branches rises symmetrically from the base, their leafy stems curving outward in a naturalistic style to frame the lower portion of the inscription. The rim is defined by a reeded border consistent with the obverse. |

Issued specifically to pay Habsburg troops during the War of the First Coalition, this copper piece was never intended for general commerce — it existed solely to keep soldiers in the field liquid during the Rhine and Italian campaigns against Revolutionary France. Emergency military coinages of this type were struck under logistical pressure and often show inconsistent planchet preparation as a result.
Franz II had assumed the imperial title just two years prior, in 1792, making this an early issue of his reign struck before the full monetary apparatus of his administration had stabilized.
