| Obverse description | Central field features the crowned royal cypher of Sigismund II Augustus, composed of an interlaced SA monogram beneath a royal crown, with the regnal date divided on either side. The circular Latin legend is interrupted by the Topor heraldic charge — a stylised hook or axe device — appearing either before or after the abbreviated title REX, serving as a mintmaster's or die-cutter's mark. The lettering is bold and characteristic of mid-sixteenth-century Lithuanian coinage. The overall composition reflects the hammered silver production typical of the Vilnius mint under Sigismund Augustus. |
