Additional information

This piece belongs to Malta's ongoing series of €3 collector issues — a denomination that exists purely for the numismatic market, with no circulation function whatsoever. St. Jerome, the 4th-century Dalmatian scholar responsible for the Vulgate, the Latin Bible translation that remained the Catholic Church's authoritative scriptural text for over a millennium, maintained a long connection to the region through his birth in what is now modern Croatia, close to Malta's broader Mediterranean cultural sphere.

The KM#231.1 designation suggests at least one variant exists within this issue year.
