Austria's "Supersaurs" series, launched in 2019, was aimed squarely at children and casual collectors, using vivid color printing on copper-nickel flans — a production technique the Austrian Mint had refined through its commemorative euro program. The 3-euro denomination exists purely for this series; it has no role in everyday Austrian commerce and was never intended to.
The Ankylosaurus piece was the second release in the run, following the Triceratops.
