| Obverse description | Central device comprises the Portuguese coat of arms superimposed upon an armillary sphere, symbolizing Portugal's maritime empire. The quartered shield displays the traditional quinas and castles, surmounted by a mural crown flanked by smaller crowns above the sphere. The circumferential legend ESTADO·DA·INDIA arcs along the upper field, while two small floral rosettes flank the denomination 3$00 inscribed in large numerals across the lower field.
