Obverse description Central shield bearing the archiepiscopal arms of Salzburg, surmounted by a radiant triangle inscribed DEO, symbolizing the Holy Trinity. A circular Latin legend commemorating the eleven centuries since the founding of the Archbishopric of Salzburg surrounds the composition. The design is executed in high relief in a Baroque style characteristic of late 17th-century Salzburg coinage. The legend reads FVNDATI ARCHIEPISCOPATUS SALISBURGENSIS VNDECIMO SAECULO, referencing the foundation of the see.
