| Obverse description | The fully armored effigy of Elector John George II on horseback, advancing to the right, his right arm raised and shouldering a sword. The Saxon coat of arms appears in the exergue beneath the horse. The composition is rendered in a bold, high-relief baroque style characteristic of mid-17th-century Saxon gold coinage. The date 1658 and the dedicatory legend DEO ET PATRIÆ appear within the field. |

| Reverse description | The entire reverse field is occupied by a twelve-line Latin inscription in bold raised lettering, filling the coin from top to bottom, enumerating the full titles and dignities of John George II as Duke of Saxony, Arch-Marshal and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire, Imperial Vicar following the death of Emperor Ferdinand III, Landgrave of Thuringia, Margrave of Meissen, Lord of Upper and Lower Lusatia, Burgrave of Magdeburg, Count of Mark and Ravensberg, and Lord of Ravenstein. A trefoil ornament appears at the conclusion of the inscription. The lettering is executed in a crisp, deeply engraved Roman script with pronounced serifs, consistent with the finest Saxon mint production of the period. |
