| Obverse description | At center, the crowned royal cypher of Frederick III (F3) is displayed within a beaded inner circle, with a cloud motif bearing the inscription EBEN-EZER breaking through both the beaded circle and the crown above. The field surrounding the cypher is plain. The peripheral legend, separated from the inner design by the beaded circle, carries the king's motto and the date, reading clockwise in Latin. The overall composition reflects the baroque artistic conventions prevalent in mid-seventeenth-century Danish medallic art. |

The scene is dramatically composed within a partial beaded inner circle, leaving the composition open at the base. The peripheral legend, inscribed outside the beaded circle, commemorates the date of the Swedish defeat and renders glory to God alone. The design is rendered in the bold, allegorical style characteristic of Danish victory commemorative issues of the mid-seventeenth century. |
