Obverse description At center, the crowned royal cypher of Frederick III (F3) is displayed within a beaded inner circle, with a cloud motif bearing the inscription EBEN-EZER breaking through both the beaded circle and the crown above. The field surrounding the cypher is plain. The peripheral legend, separated from the inner design by the beaded circle, carries the king's motto and the date, reading clockwise in Latin. The overall composition reflects the baroque artistic conventions prevalent in mid-seventeenth-century Danish medallic art.
