Obverse description Elaborately ornamented nine-fold coat of arms of Bishop Christoph Bernhard von Galen, surmounted by a mitre and flanked by multiple ornate helmets with crests including a lion and an eagle displayed. The shield is quartered with complex heraldic charges, supported by decorative mantling. The circular Latin legend reads around the periphery within a beaded border, identifying the bishop as prince of Münster.
