Additional information

The fireweed (Epilobium angustifolium) holds unofficial provincial flower status in Yukon, selected partly because it is reliably the first plant to colonize ground scorched by wildfire — a botanical reset switch across the boreal north. The Royal Canadian Mint has leaned heavily on regional flora for its collector series since the 1990s, and Yukon has been underrepresented relative to provinces with formal floral emblems enshrined in legislation. This piece belongs to a broader provincially themed run rather than any commemorative event.
