| Obverse description | The obverse features two juxtaposed effigies in rhodium-frosted relief set against a matte field, each contained within a beaded oval frame. To the left, the diademed and draped bust of Queen Victoria faces left, engraved after the style of Leonard Charles Wyon; to the right, the mature effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, as designed by Susanna Blunt. Above the paired portraits, a royal cypher surmounted by a crown separates the two figures, while a second crown appears below. The outer legend reads ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA along the upper arc and VICTORIA D·G·REGINA along the lower arc, with the denomination 3 DOLLARS and the royal cypher ER inscribed in the lower field between the two busts. |
