Obverse description The obverse features two juxtaposed effigies in rhodium-frosted relief set against a matte field, each contained within a beaded oval frame. To the left, the diademed and draped bust of Queen Victoria faces left, engraved after the style of Leonard Charles Wyon; to the right, the mature effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, as designed by Susanna Blunt. Above the paired portraits, a royal cypher surmounted by a crown separates the two figures, while a second crown appears below. The outer legend reads ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA along the upper arc and VICTORIA D·G·REGINA along the lower arc, with the denomination 3 DOLLARS and the royal cypher ER inscribed in the lower field between the two busts.

Reverse description The reverse presents a highly detailed naturalistic composition by Julius Csotonyi depicting a windswept maple branch with leaves, berries, and foliage rendered in swirling, dynamic relief against a textured background evoking movement and natural energy. The design is contained within a recessed circular field bordered by a raised rim. The legend CANADA arcs across the upper border in spaced capitals, while the bilingual inscription FINE SILVER 1/4 OZ ARGENT PUR curves along the lower border. The commemorative dates 1819 and 2019 appear to the left of the central design, and the purity mark 9999 is inscribed to the right, referencing Queen Victoria's bicentennial birth anniversary.
