| Obverse description | The obverse presents the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by engraver Susan Taylor, depicting Her Majesty at 77 years of age as a right-facing bare-headed portrait wearing a necklace and earrings. The mature bust is rendered in fine relief against a polished field. The circular legend reads ELIZABETH II at upper left, D·G·REGINA at lower right, and CANADA 2020 with the denomination 3 DOLLARS distributed around the periphery, all in Latin script. |

| Reverse description | The reverse, designed by Canadian artist Lisa Thomson-Khan, features a two-zone composition: an ornate stylized floral pattern rendered in fine line work encircles the outer ring, while the inner field presents a vivid coloured portrait of Ontario's official provincial floral emblem, the white trillium (Trillium grandiflorum), with its three broad white petals and yellow-green centre faithfully reproduced in applied colour. The artist's initials LT appear as the sole inscription in the field.
