Obverse description The obverse bears the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as executed by engraver Susanna Blunt, depicting the monarch in right-facing profile at approximately 77 years of age, uncrowned and wearing a necklace and drop earrings. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a plain field. The encircling legend reads ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA, with CANADA and the date 2013 also incorporated into the obverse inscription. The denomination 3 DOLLARS likewise appears within the obverse legend arrangement.

Reverse description The reverse was designed and engraved by Royal Canadian Mint artist José Osio and showcases a large, subtly impressed maple leaf rendered in low relief at the centre, creating a distinctive three-dimensional trompe-l'œil illusion within the polished field. This central motif is surrounded by a dense border composed of more than one hundred smaller stylised maple leaves, which fill the peripheral area and frame the composition. The interplay between the mirror-like field and the matte-finished leaf impression produces a striking contrast characteristic of proof-quality craftsmanship. The reverse carries no inscription or denomination.
