Tuvalu's platinum issues from this period were produced under the Perth Mint's licensing arrangement, which allowed the tiny Pacific nation to serve as an issuing authority for collectible coinage with no practical circulation function. The 1/25 oz format places this squarely in the fractional platinum market that briefly expanded in the mid-2000s before contracting sharply as platinum spot prices climbed toward their 2008 peak above $2,200 per troy ounce.
