| Reverse description | The reverse presents a large pattée cross with splayed, slightly concave arms occupying the full field of the coin, a traditional Genoese heraldic device. The cross arms terminate in broad, flared tips and meet at a small central boss. The circumferential legend 'DVX ET GVBERN REIP GEN' — an abbreviated reference to the Doge and Governors of the Republic of Genoa — runs around the periphery, though it is not fully visible within the milled border on this example. The entire design is framed by the same rope or milled border as the obverse. |
