The Dazhou Kingdom was one of several short-lived rebel states that emerged during the collapse of Yuan dynasty authority in the mid-14th century. Its founder, Ming Yuzhen, carved out control of Sichuan province in 1354 and maintained it with surprising stability until his death in 1366 — outlasting many contemporary warlord regimes. The Tianyou Tongbao series funded that administration, and the 3-cash denomination in particular reflects the pressures of operating a regional economy cut off from the broader Yuan monetary network.
Hartill 19.137 is among the scarcer denominations of this short emission.
