| Beschrijving voorzijde | Cast bronze cash coin featuring four bold Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) arranged in cruciform fashion around a central square perforation, read in the traditional top-bottom-right-left sequence: 龍 (Lóng, Dragon) at top, 鳳 (Fèng, Phoenix) at bottom, 通 (Tōng, circulating) at right, and 寶 (Bǎo, treasure/currency) at left. The characters are deeply and crisply cast in raised relief, set within a plain, flat field bounded by a raised inner rim surrounding the square hole and a plain outer rim. The coin exhibits an olive-brown patina with areas of green cuprite, consistent with genuine age and burial. The design bears no additional decorative elements, conforming to the austere aesthetic of late Yuan-period rebel coinage. |
