| 裏面の説明 | The denomination numeral '3' is prominently displayed in large characters in the upper half of the field, with the legend 'BANI' inscribed in capital letters below, and the four-digit date '1952' positioned along the lower portion of the field. The design is stark and utilitarian, with no additional ornamentation, the lettering occupying the full extent of the reverse field in a clean, bold sans-serif style. |

Romania's 1952 coinage reform was part of a broader Soviet-aligned monetary overhaul following the People's Republic's consolidation of power in 1948. The leu was revalued at punishing rates — old currency exchanged at 100 or even 200 to 1 depending on the holder's class status, a deliberate mechanism for liquidating bourgeois savings. Small denominations like this one entered circulation into an economy that had been structurally hollowed out almost overnight.
The KM#82.1 designation distinguishes this from the slightly later KM#82.2 variant issued in 1953.
