| 表面の説明 | The face of this assignat-style note is set in letterpress, with the heading LIBERTA EGVAGLIANZA / REP. ROM. framing a central oval vignette of a spread eagle perched on a plinth inscribed BAIOCCHI TRE, flanked by two smaller circular medallions bearing standing allegorical figures inscribed REPUBLICA ROMANA and FEDE PUBBLICA respectively. Manuscript annotations record the year and issue details above, while a handwritten line below reads Vaglia per tutti li Dipartimenti della Rep. Romana, followed by a manuscript serial number. The overall layout reflects the typographic and engraved conventions of late eighteenth-century Roman republican paper currency. |

| 裏面の説明 | The back of the note is largely plain unprinted paper, its centre occupied by a large octagonal denomination stamp enclosing the bold numeral 3, surmounted by the abbreviation BAI. T. RE. and flanked by small foliate sprays. A manuscript signature appears below the stamp, with the remaining surface exhibiting fold lines and toning consistent with circulation use. |

The Repubblica Romana declared in February 1798 lasted barely seventeen months before French military reverses and a popular uprising ended it. These small assignat-style notes were issued almost immediately after proclamation, part of a broader attempt to fund a revolutionary government that had almost no tax base and was largely dependent on French military protection to survive.
The 3 Baiocco denomination is among the lowest in the series — a value chosen to replace exactly the copper coinage that had vanished from circulation through hoarding. Paper at this face value was not trusted, and much of it was rejected outright by Roman tradespeople.
