Obverse description Centrally depicted in high relief is the enthroned Virgin Mary, crowned with an ornate royal crown and seated upon billowing clouds, holding a sceptre in her left hand while cradling the Christ Child to her right. The Infant Jesus is rendered nude, seated upon the Virgin's lap and holding a small orb surmounted by a cross, his right hand raised in a gesture of benediction. The composition is executed in a rich Baroque sculptural style, with elaborate drapery cascading around the figures. A Latin cross ornament appears at the lower left of the field. The circular legend arcs around the upper and lower periphery, reading + SANCTA MARIA MONACHII AD 1960.
