Obverse description Left-facing helmeted bust of Minerva (Athena) in high relief, wearing a crested Attic helmet with elaborate plume and cheekguards, rendered in a neoclassical style. A standing Athenian owl, the classical symbol of wisdom, is depicted in the upper left field above the helmet, accompanied by the date inscription '490 A.CHR / 1960' beneath it. The engraver's monogram appears at the base of the bust. The circumferential Latin legend reads: GRAECIA ANNO A CHR N CDXC PUGNA MARATHONIA VICIMUS, commemorating the Greek victory at the Battle of Marathon in 490 BC.
