Roxbury, Wisconsin is a small township in Dane County with no particular monetary history, which makes a privately issued $3.50 denomination all the more deliberate as a novelty device. Roll-ticket scrip of this type is produced on standard carnival or event ticket stock — perforated, sequentially numbered, and dispensed from a hand-cranked spool. The denomination itself is the point: $3.50 has no natural home in American currency, which is presumably why someone chose it.
