| Descrizione del dritto | Central shield bearing the crowned arms of Deventer set within an elaborate ornamental cartouche, the whole enclosed by a beaded inner circle. An imperial crown surmounts the shield, with the last two digits of the date (88) appearing above the crown. A cartouche beneath the shield displays the denomination numeral 28. The surrounding legend, in Roman capital letters, reads FLOR ARG CIV DAVENTRIÆ, identifying this as a silver florin of the city of Deventer. |

Deventer struck this piece in 1688 under the nominal authority of Ferdinand II — dead since 1637 — because the city retained the imperial privilege of coining in his name long after his reign ended. This legal fiction was common among the IJssel cities, who clung to older imperial grants rather than renegotiate minting rights with successive emperors. The arrangement suited everyone: the emperor collected fees without negotiation, the city maintained autonomy.
The KM#Pn27 designation flags this as a pattern or presentation striking rather than a circulation issue, which explains the survival of a specimen at this weight in gold.
