Obverse description Central shield bearing the crowned arms of Deventer set within an elaborate ornamental cartouche, the whole enclosed by a beaded inner circle. An imperial crown surmounts the shield, with the last two digits of the date (88) appearing above the crown. A cartouche beneath the shield displays the denomination numeral 28. The surrounding legend, in Roman capital letters, reads FLOR ARG CIV DAVENTRIÆ, identifying this as a silver florin of the city of Deventer.
