The shield is flanked on either side by symmetrical laurel or olive sprigs that curve gracefully inward, all contained within a raised inner circle. The circumferential legend reads RESPUBLICA FRIBURGENS., with the date 1793 separated by pellets at the base of the design, and the entire composition is bordered by a bold milled or beaded rim. |

The numeral 28, denoting the denomination in Kreuzer, appears prominently at the centre of the cross. The surrounding legend DEUS AUXILIUM NOSTR(UM) — 'God is our help' — runs around the periphery in Latin capital letters, separated by floral or pellet stops, and the whole is enclosed within a beaded outer rim. |
