背面描述 Plain field bearing the Greek inscription ΑΝΤΩ ΥΠΑ Γ arranged in three lines within a circular border, without figurative imagery. The legend reads as an abbreviated title for Mark Antony (Marcus Antonius), denoting his position as consul for the third time (ὕπατος τρίτον), a designation affirming his supreme Roman authority over the eastern provinces. The large, bold Greek capitals are struck with a somewhat crude, irregular style consistent with the provincial bronze coinage of Cyrene during the final years of the Antonian regime. The surrounding border is a raised circular line, and the flat, wide flan displays typical surface granularity and patination of provincial Æ issues from this period.

附加信息

Struck at a moment when Cyrenaica had just been absorbed into Rome's expanding dominion following Octavian's defeat of Antony and Cleopatra, this issue falls into the administratively turbulent transition before the province was formally reorganized under Augustus. The Greek legend abbreviating the proconsular title reflects local mint practice continuing under Roman supervision — Cyrene had long maintained its own bronzes under Ptolemaic rule and the change of overlord did not immediately disrupt that habit.

Svoronos's attribution to this period remains the standard reference, though the precise magistrate named in the legend has not been conclusively identified.
