| Reverse description | Eagle standing right with wings spread open, depicted in a dynamic heraldic posture typical of Cretan civic bronzes. The Greek magistrate's name ΚΥΔΑΣ appears as the principal legend in the field, identifying the issuing authority. The figure of the eagle, sacred to Zeus, is rendered with spread primary feathers clearly delineated. A letter B appears in the exergue as a secondary control mark. |

Kydas appears in the eponymous magistrate series at Knossos during the final convulsions of the Roman civil wars, a period when Crete — absorbed as a Roman province in 67 BC following Metellus's brutal campaign — was still finding its administrative footing under the new order. The magistrate's name is rendered in the Doric dialect consistent with Cretan epigraphy, and the series spans enough die combinations in Svoronos to suggest a reasonably sustained term or repeated tenure.
