| Описание аверса | The central field features the Mongolian national emblem, the Soyombo, prominently rendered in high relief, flanked on either side by the outstretched wings of the Khangard (Garuda) bird, its feathers radiating outward in fine detail. Traditional Mongolian script (Todo Bichig) inscriptions appear along the left side of the field. The denomination '2500' is inscribed at the top of the field, with the legend 'MONGOLIA' running vertically along the right side. At the bottom of the field, the fineness and weight indication '5 OZ 999 SILVER' appears in the lower exergue. The entire design is bordered by an ornate traditional Mongolian decorative meander pattern along the rim. |

Mongolia's large-format silver issues of the late 1990s were produced under contract by foreign mints — principally the Bern Mint in Switzerland and the Bavarian State Mint — as hard-currency fundraising instruments rather than pieces intended for domestic circulation. The 1999 year of the Rabbit falls within the twelve-coin lunar cycle Mongolia issued through this period, a series aimed squarely at the international collector market during years when the tögrög itself was under sustained pressure from post-Soviet economic contraction.
The five-troy-ounce format places this squarely in the collector bullion tier that proliferated among smaller sovereign issuers in the 1990s.
