Somaliland's central bank has issued a long run of bimetallic commemoratives targeting the collector market rather than circulation, and this piece — honoring a foreign monarch's birthday for a territory she has no constitutional connection to — fits squarely in that commercial vein. The Gambia did retain Elizabeth II as head of state after independence in 1965, but became a republic in 1970, severing that tie entirely.
