2500 Rupees - Specimen Traveller's Cheque - Bank of Baroda

Bank of Baroda's traveller's cheques of this era occupied an odd commercial niche — Indian banks were pushing hard into the foreign exchange services market following the liberalization of outward remittances for certain traveller categories under the 1981 FERA amendments. The 2500 rupee denomination sat at the upper end of what the RBI permitted individuals to carry abroad for personal travel, making it a working instrument rather than a novelty.

Specimen cheques of this type were issued to correspondent banks and authorised dealers for staff training and verification purposes. Few were retained once superseded by updated series.
