Aanvullende informatie

Issued to commemorate the 1986 People Power Revolution, which ousted Ferdinand Marcos after twenty years of authoritarian rule and brought Corazon Aquino to the presidency through a largely peaceful civilian uprising along EDSA highway in Manila. The .500 fine gold composition — unusually low purity for a commemorative of this denomination — likely reflects both the cost pressures of a government inheriting an economy gutted by Marcos-era debt and capital flight.

Aquino was sworn in just hours after Marcos fled to Hawaii aboard US military aircraft on February 25, 1986.
