Obverse description The obverse features a bearded male head in right-facing profile, rendered in a classical Hellenistic style evoking ancient Greek sculptural portraiture, set against a polished gold-toned field. The date 2016 appears prominently in the lower portion of the field beneath the portrait. A curved legend along the upper border reads REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN, while the denomination 2500 FRANCS CFA is inscribed along the lower border, separated by a dot. The fineness designation Ag 999 is also present, referencing the silver composition of the coin.

Additional information

Cameroon's sports-themed commemorative program of the 2010s was driven almost entirely by export — these pieces were never intended for domestic circulation and were produced under licensing arrangements with European minting houses targeting collector markets in Germany and beyond. The 2500 Francs denomination exists purely as a face-value fiction; no such coin circulates in the CFA franc zone.

Gold-plated silver issues of this type are catalogued under KM#77, distinguishing them from a parallel pure silver strike in the same series.
