| Obverse description | The obverse bears the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt, depicting a bare-headed portrait of the monarch facing right, wearing a necklace and drop earrings, as rendered at approximately 77 years of age. The legend around the effigy reads ELIZABETH II D•G•REGINA, with CANADA, the date 2017, and the denomination 2500 DOLLARS also inscribed in the field. The initials SB appear below the truncation, identifying the engraver Susanna Blunt. |

| Reverse description | The reverse presents a magnificently detailed high-relief depiction of a rooster resting among blooming peony flowers, its elaborately fanned tail feathers sweeping dramatically upward and across the upper field. The plumage is rendered with exceptional engraving detail, each feather individually delineated in the fine tradition of East Asian artistic style. In the upper left of the field, a red colored square cartouche bears the Chinese character 雞 (Rooster), applied in selective color. The engraver's initials CRR appear at lower left, and the scalloped eight-lobed lotus-form border of the coin complements the overall Asian aesthetic of the composition. |
