Beschrijving keerzijde A bold, high-relief sculptural depiction of a rearing horse dominates the central field, rendered in a dynamic pose with one foreleg raised and mane flowing to the right, evoking the traditional Chinese artistic representation associated with the Lunar Year of the Horse. The Chinese character 馬 (horse) appears to the left of the animal in the field. The legend CANADA arcs along the upper left rim. A decorative border of repeating Chinese key-fret meander pattern frames the entire design along the periphery. The engraver's initials CRR appear in the lower right field.

Aanvullende informatie

The Year of the Horse kilo gold issue was part of the Royal Canadian Mint's Lunar Lotus series, targeting the substantial Chinese-Canadian collector market that emerged as a significant commercial force for the RCM in the early 2010s. Mintage was capped at 388 — a figure chosen deliberately for its phonetic association with prosperity in Cantonese and Mandarin.
