Additional information

The Seven Years War ended with the 1763 Treaty of Paris, which transferred New France to Britain — a territorial shift that permanently reoriented the political character of what would become Canada. France had chosen to recover Guadeloupe rather than Quebec at the negotiating table, a decision debated bitterly in Paris for decades afterward.

This is one of the RCM's kilogram gold issues, produced in extremely limited quantities as a prestige collectible rather than anything approaching circulation. At this weight and fineness, the gold value alone places it well beyond numismatic discussion for most collectors.
