| Obverse description | The heart-shaped obverse features the circular emblem of the Bank of Mongolia (Монгол Банк) at centre, surmounted by a soyombo symbol and flanked on either side by vertical Mongolian traditional script legends. Below the emblem, the face value '250' and 'ТӨГРӨГ' are inscribed in the field in decorative lettering. Along the lower portion of the coin, a secondary legend in Latin script reads 'MONGOLIA 15.5gr 925 SILVER', indicating the issuing country and metallic composition. The entire design is rendered in mirror-like proof finish against a polished field. |

Mongolia's "Baby" coin series, issued through the mid-2000s, was produced by the Bank of Mongolia as legal tender but distributed primarily through the international collector market rather than domestic circulation. The series leaned heavily on the gift-coin format popularized by European mints in the 1990s, packaging commemorative silver pieces as keepsakes for newborns.
KM#271 is the girl variant; a companion boy issue was struck in the same year with near-identical specifications.
