Obverse description The copper-nickel inner ring displays the Somali national coat of arms at center: a vertically striped escutcheon bearing a five-pointed star, supported by two leopards rampant, with crossed palm fronds below forming a wreath. The brass outer ring carries the legend REPUBLIC OF SOMALIA arcing along the upper periphery, and the denomination 250 SHILLINGS inscribed along the lower periphery, all within a finely beaded border separating the two metallic zones.
