| 表面の銘文 | REPUBLIC OF SOMALIA 250 SHILLINGS |
| 裏面の説明 | The reverse features a dynamic commemorative scene depicting the fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989. At centre, a jubilant crowd of figures raises hands in celebration before a crumbling section of the Wall, with the Brandenburg Gate and a radiant sun visible in the background; atop the Wall, figures wielding a pickaxe symbolise the breaking down of the barrier. Two olive branches flank the lower field. The trilingual legend FREEDOM · UNITY · HOPE · FREIHEIT · EINHEIT · HOFFNUNG arcs along the upper border, while LIBERTÉ · UNITÉ · ESPÉRANCE curves along the lower left, and BERLIN and NOVEMBER 1989 are inscribed prominently in the lower field. |

Somalia had no functioning central government in 1999 — the state had collapsed in 1991 and would not reconstitute a recognized administration for years. These issues were licensed commercial products, authorized in name by the Transitional National Government or its predecessors largely as a revenue mechanism, with actual production contracted to European mints supplying the collector market. The coin's subject has no geographic or historical connection to the issuing authority whatsoever.
The Berlin Wall fell on the night of November 9, 1989, after an East German spokesman mistakenly announced at a press conference that new travel regulations were effective "immediately, without delay."
