| Reverse description | The left half bears the RSFSR state coat of arms — hammer and sickle within a wheat-ear wreath surmounted by the slogan scroll — with a counterfeiting warning in Cyrillic below. The right half is dominated by a large multicolour guilloche medallion with the numeral '250' and 'РУБЛЕЙ' interlaced at its centre. The 'Workers of the World, Unite!' slogan appears in six languages around the margins: German and French across the top, Italian and English along the bottom, Chinese vertically at left, and Arabic vertically at right. |

The extraordinary number of authorized signatories on this note — at least eight distinct individuals across known examples — reflects the RSFSR's deliberate policy of mass authorization during 1919, when the Bolshevik government was simultaneously fighting the Civil War on multiple fronts and running the printing presses at a pace that made individual oversight functionally impossible. No single signature combination defines the type; the variation is the point.
Pick 102 belongs to the first major Soviet inflationary sequence. By 1921, 250 Roubles had been rendered effectively worthless by hyperinflation, and the entire series was superseded by the 1922 redenomination at 10,000 old Roubles to one new.
