250 Ringgit - Employees Provident Fund

Issued to mark the 25th anniversary of Malaysia's Employees Provident Fund, established in 1951 to provide retirement security for private-sector workers — a system modeled partly on British colonial welfare structures and retained after independence largely intact. The EPF by 1976 had grown into one of Southeast Asia's largest mandatory savings institutions, managing contributions from millions of workers across peninsular Malaysia and the Borneo states.

Gold commemoratives of this period were produced in strictly limited quantities for the Malaysian market and rarely left the region in any volume.
