| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse of the host coin depicts the crowned Portuguese royal arms — the escutcheon bearing the quinas (five small shields arranged in a cross, each charged with five bezants) surmounted by a royal crown in high relief, the whole set within a circular beaded border. A partial circumferential legend in Latin surrounds the shield, though much of the inscription is worn or partially off-flan due to the irregular hammered flan. The denomination '20' (from the original '200' Réis inscription) remains partially visible to the right of the shield. The style is consistent with Portuguese hammered silver coinage of the mid-seventeenth century. |
